Remembering Kim Yong-gyun
A commemorative statue of Kim Yong-gyun is set up in front of Korea Western Power's Taean Thermal Power Plant, located in Taean, South Chungcheong, on Wednesday. On December 10, 2018, Kim, an irregular worker, was found dead after he was sucked into a conveyor belt machine while working the night shift alone at the Taean factory. The incident drew public attention to workplace safety and prevention of tragic accidents, eventually causing an amendment to be passed to the Occupational Safety and Health Act on December 27, 2018.
