President Moon Jae-in pledged Korea will work toward “inclusive green recovery” for carbon neutrality as he kicked off the two-day 2021 P4G Seoul Summit Sunday, bringing together some 60 world leaders and heads of international organizations to address the global climate crisis.

일요일 2021 P4G 서울 정상회의를 개막하면서 문재인 대통령은 한국은 탄소중립을 달성하기 위해 “포용적 녹색 회복”을 위해 노력할 것이라고 약속했다. 이틀 동안 열릴 P4G 정상회의에는 기후위기 문제를 논의하기 위해 각국 정치지도자와 국제기구 수장 60여명이 참가한다.

“The 2021 P4G Seoul Summit needs to become inclusive for the safety and sustainability of our future, and we also sincerely hope that it becomes an invaluable step forward toward achieving inclusive green recovery and carbon neutrality,” Moon said during the opening ceremony of the second P4G Summit, held in in-person and virtually, at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Jung District, central Seoul.

문 대통령은 개막연설에서 “2021 P4G 서울 정상회의는 우리 미래의 안전과 지속가능성을 위해 포용적이어야 한다. 정상회의가 탄소중립과 포용적 녹색 회복으로 나아가는 중요한 걸음이 될 것이라고 우리는 정말로 믿는다.”고 말했다. 제2회 P4G 정상회의는 서울 중구 DDP에서 직접 참가와 온라인 참가로 열렸다.

P4G, or Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030, is a global platform that seeks solutions for climate action through innovative publicprivate partnerships and aims to deliver on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Agreement on climate change.

녹색성장과 글로벌 목표 2030을 위한 연대(P4G)는 파리 기후변화 협약과 유엔 지속가능 개발 목표를 이행하는것을 목적으로 기후변화 대응책을 마련하는 혁신적 민관협력 글로벌 협의체다.

The opening ceremony was attended in person by some 50 people, including first lady Kim Jungsook, government officials, diplomats to Seoul, representatives of international organizations and young people representing future generations, in compliance with Covid-19 prevention guidelines.

개막식에는 영부인 김정숙 여사, 공무원, 주한 외교사절, 국제기구 대표, 미래 세대를 대표하는 청소년 등 50여명이 코로나19 방역 수칙을 지키면서 직접 참석했다.

Moon in his speech announced ways that Korea can strengthen its pledges on climate change response to achieve an inclusive green recovery that involves developing countries, to overcome the unprecedented global climate and environmental crises.
