To honor late najeon chilgi (lacquerware inlaid with mother-of-pearl) artisan Kim Bong-ryong (1902-94) and his works, the National Intangible Heritage Center in Jeonju, North Jeolla has organized an exhibition showcasing some of his pieces and the tools he used to create mother-of-pearl masterpieces, as well as information about how he came to be recognized in 1966 as a holder of a valuable skill of “Mother-of-pearl inlaying,” which is designated as National Intangible Cultural Heritage.  [NATIONAL INTANGIBLE HERITAGE CENTER]
