Netflix announced on Friday that the first season of its new original series “D.P.” is set to be released on Aug. 27.
The teaser video and three posters were revealed on Netflix and its social media accounts on Friday.
The series was created by director Han Jun-hee and cartoonist Kim Bo-tong, and star actors Jung Hae-in, Koo Kyo-hwan and Kim Sung-kyun. Han is well-known for his 2015 crime thriller film “Coin Locker Girl,” which was screened at the International Critics’ Week section of the 2015 Cannes Film Festival.
“D.P.,” which stands for “Deserter Pursuit,” is an adaptation of Kim Bo-tong’s webtoon “D.P. Dog’s Day”(translated) that was published on Lezhin Comics from 2015 to 2016. It accumulated over 10 million views.
A synopsis on Netflix's website reads “a young private’s assignment to capture army deserters reveals the painful reality endured by each enlistee during his compulsory call of duty.”
Jung will play Jun-ho, the young private and main character.
