HUFS International Model United Nations hosted by Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS) will be held at COEX, southern Seoul, on Saturday.

Each year, the student-run mock UN Assembly selects important issues related to the international community and discusses them from the perspective of college students.

The theme at the 45th annual conference is “The Post-Covid-19 Era, Seeking Multilateral Cooperation for Food Security.”

“Among the numerous international issues raised amid the coronavirus pandemic, we selected a timely issue,” said Kim Ye-seul, a student of HUFS and chair of the organizing committee for this year's event.

“After Covid-19, food crises will intensify, and the issue of food security will become more urgent for the global community.”

Some 15 students will participate as panelists at the conference.

They will each represent as well as speak the languages of countries including Korea, the U.S., China, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Turkey, Brazil and Vietnam.

In adherence with the government's social distancing guidelines, the event will be streamed online via Zoom. Around 700 people have registered online as of Wednesday.
