To celebrate Hangul Day, BTS released products with a hangul (the Korean alphabet) font design, the boy band’s agency HYBE said Friday.
Hangul Day is a national day that falls on every Oct. 9, when hangul was invented in 1443 by King Sejong (1397-1450) of the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910).
The special hangul font design is also being used on the billboards of Kyobo Life Insurance in Gwanghwamun in central Seoul and merchandise from BTS’s collaboration with McDonald’s.
The products, which are being sold exclusively on Weverse Shop, HYBE’s fan community app, consist of a board game and a statue of the band’s trademark logo.
HYBE’s subsidiary HYBE Edu has been actively releasing online content and products to help non-Korean speakers learn the language.
