Kimchi surplus
Packaged kimchi is sold at a major discount mart in Seoul on Tuesday. According to the Korea Customs Service on Tuesday, kimchi is likely to enjoy a trade surplus by the end of this year. Kimchi exports rose 13.8 percent year-on-year to $111.5 million in the first eight months of this year. Imports during the same period shrunk 9.7 percent to $86 million. [YONHAP]
