Abstract ink paintings by artist Suh Se Ok (1929-2020) are now on view at Seongbuk Museum of Art in northern Seoul, as part of the exhibition “The Artist and His People,” which runs through Dec. 5. The exhibition explores the society of renowned artists based in Seongbuk district mainly with the art collection of Suh donated by his family to the museum last May after his death in November, 2020. The 3,342 artworks in the collection include not only Suh’s paintings, which are based on the tradition of East Asian ink calligraphy and paintings, but also those by other famous artists in traditional East Asian style such as Pyon Kwan-sik.
