The LG Twins on Wednesday signed former NC Dinos closer Kim Jin-sung, who was waived by the club at the end of the 2021 season.
Kim was drafted by the SK Wyverns — now the SSG Landers — in 2004, but didn't make his KBO debut until 2013 with the Dinos. Kim played mainly as closer in 2014, then alternated around the bullpen in the following years. In 2020, when the Dinos won the Korean Series, Kim pitched in all six games, picking up three holds and allowing no runs.
Kim has a career 4.57 ERA with 32 wins, 31 losses, 34 saves and 67 holds in nine years in the KBO, but slipped to a 7.17 ERA in the 2021 season.
The Twins appear unconcerned about this year's disappointing numbers, highlighting Kim's experience as a veteran pitcher with good strikeout experience — Kim averages 9.35 strikeouts per nine innings pitched.
As Kim is not a free agent, the Twins were not required to disclose the details of his contract.
