BTS ranked No. 1 on Oricon’s annual rankings for 2021, the Japanese music chart announced on its website Friday.

The ranking, titled “Total Ranking of Sales Division by Artist” (translated), is calculated based on sales, albums, DVDs and streams.

BTS is the first overseas artist to top the ranking, according to Oricon.

The band also earned the top spot in other sections: its Billboard-topping single “Butter” (2021) for “Total Single Ranking” (translated) and its Japanese compilation album “BTS, THE BEST” (2021) for “Total Album Ranking” (translated).

After its release in June this year, “BTS, THE BEST” sold 782,000 copies in the first week alone, topping Oricon’s Weekly Albums Chart.
