Through Feb. 28: The Lounge, the eighth-floor reception lobby at JW Marriott Hotel Seoul, presents “Falling in Love with Strawberry Afternoon Tea Set” inspired by the theme of fresh seasonal strawberries.

This season’s afternoon tea set showcases nine desserts including strawberry Mont Blanc, crafted from juicy strawberries and almond cream enveloped in rich Chantilly cream; strawberry cheesecake; flamingo almond cake; strawberry macarons; and strawberry Amaretti, complemented by two freshly-baked raspberry scones and a savory dish selection including Kadaif rolls (long, thin nut pastries) with pistachio and cream cheese; berry French toast topped with assorted berries, banana and cream cheese; and strawberry cheese balls. Winter delicacy “Raining Sweetness Bingsu,” a seasonal menu highlight, features finely-shaved melt-in-the-mouth frozen milk flakes topped with fresh seasonal strawberries and a garnish of soft candy floss, grissini and cute umbrella-shaped chocolates, delighting the eyes and palate alike.

Park Hyatt Seoul

Announcement: Park Hyatt Seoul, the luxury Hyatt destination located in Gangnam District, southern Seoul, is pleased to announce the appointment of new General Manager Andrew Ashdown.

Australian-born Ashdown is a veteran hotelier who recently began his 21st year of service with Hyatt. His hospitality career began at Hyatt Regency Sanctuary Cove in 2001, where he later became Front Office Manager. He went on to serve as Director of Rooms at Grand Hyatt Melbourne from 2010, gaining a deep understanding of hospitality and people management.

In July 2013, Ashdown’s leadership qualities were recognized with his appointment as Executive Assistant Manager Rooms at Park Hyatt Sydney, a position he held for five years.

In 2018, he moved to Korea to assume the position of General Manger at Park Hyatt Busan. Here, even as the Covid-19 placed unprecedented strain on the hospitality industry, Ashdown demonstrated his management abilities by achieving record-breaking sales based on his own unique brand of leadership.

He also made Hyatt history by winning Korea’s first Hyatt Team of the Year Award, presented to teams that achieve exceptional results while exemplifying commitment to Hyatt goals and values.

Ashdown has now begun a new leap forward with Park Hyatt Seoul, based on his abundant professional experience and with a focus on communication with guests and staff. Building on a broad understanding of the Korean leisure market acquired during his time in the international tourist city of Busan, he is now focused on sharing the essence of the luxury hotel experience in the Korean capital. When asked, Ashdown shared his vision for creating rare and unique experiences for all guests of Park Hyatt Seoul. He believes that luxury is personal, and he will inspire his team to create truly memorable, home away from home experiences.
