SBS drama series “Our Beloved Summer,” featuring actors Kim Da-mi and Choi Woo-shik, ranked No. 9 on the Top 10 TV shows on Netflix for Jan. 19.

The show proved to be especially popular in Asian countries, topping the daily Netflix charts in Hong Kong, Indonesia, the Philippines, Taiwan and Vietnam.

“Our Beloved Summer” centers around a high school couple who have dated for five years, break up, and reunite after a decade.

After the worldwide success of “Squid Game,” highly anticipated big-budget series such as “Hellbound” and “The Silent Sea” immediately ranked high Netflix's daily charts after their releases and have been spotlighted by global media outlets.

Romance series such as “Our Beloved Summer,” KBS period drama “The King’s Affection” and tvN’s “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” have earned more steady attention from global viewers, periodically appearing on the top 10 daily charts even after the series ended.

Netflix Korea's original dating reality show “Single’s Inferno” became the first Korean reality show to make it onto the streaming platform’s top 10 chart earlier this month.

Following the steady success of romantic series, streaming platforms are lining up more works to be streamed for this year. Netflix is planning to launch two series “The Fabulous” starring Chae Soo-bin and Choi Min-ho and “Love to Hate You” starring Kim Ok-bin and Yoo Teo. The former centers around romance between young people who are trying to achieve their dreams in the fashion industry. The latter is about a woman who hates to lose to men and a man who always doubts women.

Disney+ will launch its first Korean original series “Rookie Cops” on Jan. 26 starring Chae Soo-bin and Kang Daniel. It is a coming-of-age story set at a police university and a romance between two young cops.
