Singer Kim Jun-su has tested positive for Covid-19 while Wonpil of boy band DAY6 is self-quarantining while awaiting the results of a PCR test.

Kim, best known as a former member of boy bands JYJ and TVXQ, tested positive on Sunday, according to his agency Palmtree Island.

Kim learned that his co-star in the musical “Excalibur” tested positive on Saturday, and underwent a rapid antigen test. In all five tests he was negative, but he took an additional PCR test and tested positive.

Palmtree Island said that Kim had received a booster shot of Moderna, and has canceled all upcoming plans while he is being treated.

Kim debuted in 2003 as a member of the boy band TVXQ under SM Entertainment. He is also known as his stage name Xia. In 2009, Kim, along with members Kim Jae-joong and Park Yoo-chun, left the agency and the band to form trio JYJ. Kim has starred in numerous musicals including “Mozart!,” “Dracula: The Musical” and currently “Excalibur.”

“Excalibur” has halted performances temporarily due to positive cases among the actors and crew members.

Wonpil of DAY6 will go into quarantine for one week due to a staff member testing positive on Monday, his agency JYP Entertainment said the same day.

“A crew member who was working with Wonpil tested positive,” JYP said in a statement.

The person is not exhibiting any symptoms but tested positive on Sunday.

Wonpil is not showing any symptoms related to Covid.

“Wonpil will go into quarantine just in case,” JYP said. “We are sorry to say that we have no choice but to cancel Wonpil’s schedules for this week.”

The online press conference for his solo first-length album “Pilmography,” which is set to drop today at 6 p.m., will go ahead as planned, as the event was pre-recorded.

Wonpil debuted in 2015 as a member of DAY6, which is known for its songs “Congratulations” (2015), “You Were Beautiful” (2017), “Days Gone By” (2018) and “Zombie” (2020). He is tasked with vocals, keyboards and synth in the band.

Wonpil was part of the band's first subunit Even of Day, which debuted in 2020 with its EP "The Book of Us: Gluon." He has also been active as an actor, starring in the musical “Midnight Sun” and web drama “Best Mistake 3” (2021-22).
