Actor Cha Seo-won [NAMOO ENTERTAINMENT]

Actor Cha Seo-won, who is currently starring in MBC drama series “The Second Husband” will perform in a musical for the first time in six years.

Cha’s agency Namoo Entertainment announced Wednesday that Cha has been cast in the upcoming musical “Chami,” which will begin its run at the Plus Theater in central Seoul from April. Cha’s latest musical was “Mama Don’t Cry” in 2016.

“Chami” is a Korean original musical that premiered in 2020. The musical has been earning high praise from theatergoers in Korea, receiving great reviews and an average audience rating of 9.6 out of 10. The musical will soon be adapted into a television drama series. The story revolves around a character named Cha Mi-ho, who is an ordinary college student with low self-esteem. But on social media, she creates another identity — the perfect version of herself.

In the musical Cha will play a character named Oh Jin-hyuk, who has everything anyone could ever wish for — looks, talent and wealth. He is worshiped by his friends but feels bored of his life.
