Created in collaboration with iconic shoe designer Manolo Blahnik, whose fame reached new heights when "Sex and the City" heroine Carrie received a pair of his shoes as a proposal gift from boyfriend Mr. Big, the package features a variety of irresistible gifts.

The Be My Valentine at JW package features a choice of Executive Deluxe or Griffin Suite room, Manolo Blahnik shoe-shaped chocolates handcrafted by the hotel’s pastry team, and a 10 percent savings voucher for exclusive use at the Manolo Blahnik store on the fourth floor of Gangnam Shinsegae Department Store.

Meanwhile, the Romantic Holiday at JW package delivers five unforgettably romantic hours in the unique two-story Penthouse, the hotel’s most luxurious suite. In addition to the privileges included in the Be My Valentine package, the Romantic Holiday package features the exceptional gift of a pair of shoes from Manolo Blahnik’s Hangisi line, crafted by master artisans at Blahnik’s studio and displaying a stunning buckle of Swarovski crystal, with a choice of color and size to suit every taste. The package also includes a four-course in-room dining meal with striploin steak by seventh-floor luxury steakhouse The Margaux Grill and Moët & Chandon Impérial Rosé Champagne, enhanced by elegantly subtle floral and balloon decorations conjuring an ambience of refined romance, and a customizable window message ideal for creating the perfect surprise proposal.

The hotel is also offering Be My Valentine Afternoon Tea Set, with handcrafted desserts featuring romantic pink hues, unique designs and elegant plating. The limited-edition tea set includes an exclusive gift of Be My Valentine Manolo Blahnik Chocolate Shoes, modeled after the Hangisi line — dubbed the “Dream Wedding Shoes” thanks to their appearance in "Sex and the City" as a proposal gift to Carrie from her boyfriend Mr. Big — created in collaboration with iconic shoe designer Manolo Blahnik.

The selection of six desserts includes Strawberry Mont Blancs, almond tarts topped with tangy fresh strawberries and enveloped in strawberry cream; Chocolate Mille Feuille, featuring layer upon layer of strawberry chocolate filled with soft strawberry chocolate cream; Strawberry Layered Cheesecake; and Strawberry Macarons, while a menu of savory dishes presents light meal options including two freshly-baked Raspberry Scones; Kataifi (thin pastry with nuts) Rolls with Pistachio and Cream Cheese; Berry French Toast, moist brioche buns topped with berries, banana and cream cheese; and Strawberry Cheese Balls.

The dessert and savory menu items are accompanied by two cups of a choice of nine teas by organic handmade U.S. brand Rishi, six teas by luxury Korean brand Ssangye, and Homage Coffee, custom-blended exclusively for JW Marriott Hotel Seoul by America’s Trinidad Coffee (hot or iced), and sweet Strawberry Ade. The Be My Valentine Afternoon Tea Set is priced at 160,000 won ($133) for two guests (including tax and service charge), with a Champagne Afternoon Tea Set, featuring the same menu and soft beverages with the addition of two glasses of rosé champagne, priced at 210,000 won for two guests.

The Club Lounge on the 34th floor, exclusively available for guests on the club floor only, is complimentarily accessible to package guests. It offers a panoramic view of the entire Gangnam area and top-notch services. Damien Selme has been appointed as the new chef at Andaz Seoul Gangnam in southern Seoul. [ANDAZ SEOUL GANGNAM]

Announcement –– Andaz Seoul Gangnam has appointed Damien Selme as its new Executive Chef.

Damien, who was raised in France, first came to Korea in 2010 and took on the role of Chef of French fine fining at the Korean Furniture Museum, spearheading major events such as the G-20 Seoul Summit and dinners at world-famous luxury exhibitions. His journey with Hyatt started at La Palme d'Or, a two-star Michelin restaurant at Grand Hyatt Cannes Hotel Martinez in 2004. He then served as a Chef de Cuisine at the Park Hyatt Busan Italian restaurant Living Room in 2017 and as Executive Sous-Chef at the Park Hyatt Shanghai. In addition, he has worked with famous owner chefs from Michelin-starred restaurants, such as Arnaud Donckele and Olivier Brulard, gaining rich catering experience.

Also, in 2017, he took first place in the Korea Final of "The Good Taste Series 2017," a global campaign hosted by Hyatt Hotels & Resorts aimed at discovering and motivating talented chefs within the corporation.

Chef Damien's culinary philosophy — that passion and love must come first for good cuisine — was inspired by Paul Bocuse, who is called the Pope of French cuisine, also known as the creator of the crème brûlée.

“Based on my diverse cultural experiences gained from European countries, as well as China and Korea, we will present dishes with the unique colors of Jogakbo or Korean traditional patchwork using the highest quality, seasonal local ingredients. In addition, I am looking forward to working on a series of the afternoon tea set and seasonal shaved ice with the unique concept of Andaz Seoul Gangnam," said Selme. “My ambition is to lead, inspire and guide young and talented chefs to grow as the new generation of great chefs. I would be so proud if I could contribute to it. Cuisine is about passion and love but also about legacy.”
