Chaeryeong became the third member of girl group ITZY to test positive for Covid-19, according to her agency JYP Entertainment on Wednesday.
After testing negative on a preemptive Covid-19 test on Saturday, Chaeryeong had been in self quarantine after being in direct contact with members Lia and Yeji who contracted the virus Sunday and Monday, respectively.
But following another self-Covid test on Tuesday, Chaeryeong had a positive result. She subsequently underwent PCR testing at a hospital which confirmed she had Covid.
With no serious symptoms, the agency said that Chaeryeong is being treated for the virus at home. She has been vaccinated twice.
With three of the group’s five members infected with Covid-19, a fan meet that was scheduled for Saturday has been postponed indefinitely.
ITZY debuted in 2019 with the song “Dalla Dalla.” It has hit songs “Icy” (2019), “Wannabe” (2020), “Not Shy” (2020), “Mafia in the Morning” (2021) and “Loco” (2021).
The group is comprised of Chaeryeong, Lia, Yeji, Yuna and Ryujin.
