SK Biopharmaceuticals said Thursday it joined the Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Initiative (PSCI), the first Korean company to do so.

PSCI is an international non-profit organization that works to improve global healthcare supply chains. All members are expected to incorporate PSCI Principles into their business practices which emphasize ethics, human rights and labor, health and safety, environment, and management systems.

A total of 56 global biopharmaceutical companies have joined the PCSI including Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Eli Lilly.

SK Biopharmaceuticals is demonstrating its commitment to environmental, social and governance management, the Pangyo, Gyeonggi-based company explained.

“We are excited to become part of PSCI to promote better social and environmental conditions in the industry and communities we serve,” Cho Jeong-woo, CEO of SK Biopharmaceuticals, said in Thursday’s release.
