K-pop music label Blockberry Creative, which currently manages girl group Loona and former Wonder Girls member Sunye, announced Tuesday that it will form its first-ever K-pop boy band next year. For this project, the label will run the “Boy of the Month Project,” global auditions to discover new talent for the lineup.

The label made the announcement on its social media channels by posting a black-and-white photograph of the surface of the moon with a single statement that reads: “We are looking for boys who will join us in a great journey across the silent sea.”

Though the label did not reveal the details of the audition process, the title “Boy of the Month” suggests it follow the same process as was used in forming girl group Loona.

Starting October 2016, Blockberry Creative introduced Loona one member at a time over the course of 18 months. Prior to making its debut as a full girl group in 2018, the members formed sub-units like Loona 1/3, Loona Odd Eye Circle and Loona yyxy and released digital singles.

Blockberry Creative said it will announce more details about the new boy band project in near future.
