'Squid Game' director reveals plan to re-cast some actors from season one

Hwang Dong-hyuk, director of the hit Netflix series "Squid Game" (2021), hinted at the possibility of re-casting some of the stars of the show for season two.
 
According to British magazine Deadline on Monday, Hwang told its reporter during the Producers Guild of America (PGA) Awards' red carpet event on March 19, that although most of the characters from season one died, he will “try something to bring them back to Season 2.”
 
The magazine added that Hwang said he might bring back actor Hoyeon to season two to portray the twin of Sae-byeok, who she played in season one.
 
Hoyeon is a an actor and a model who rose to global stardom after starring in "Squid Game." 
 
Hwang revealed plans to shoot a second season of "Squid Game" in November last year. 
 
At the PGA Awards' red carpet event on Friday, Hwang told reporters that he and his team are currently brainstorming ideas for season two. 
 
"There is no script yet," he told reporters. "There will be more great games, that’s all I can say."   
 
Hoyeon attended the event as well.  
 
"Squid Game" was a worldwide hit after its release in September 2021, becoming the most-watched series on Netflix with over 1.65 billion hours of view time in the first 28 days after its release.
