“Saturday Night Live Korea” star Kim Min-kyo was given a two-year suspended prison sentence in July of last year after his pet dogs bit an elderly woman in her 80s, resulting in the woman’s death.

Local news agency Yonhap on Wednesday cited judicial insiders as saying the actor was found guilty of negligence and sentenced to eight months in prison suspended for two years on July 2, 2021.

The dog bite incident happened in May 2020 and received media coverage at the time. Kim owns five large dogs — two of which escaped and attacked the woman.

The court took into account that Kim admitted to the charges and apologized, reached a settlement with the victim’s family and promptly registered his dogs at a training center to prevent future attacks. Neither Kim nor the victim’s surviving family filed appeals.

Kim debuted in 1998 via the film “Seongcheol” and is best known for his appearances on comedy show “Saturday Night Live Korea,” or “SNL Korea,” a Korean version of the popular American late-night show.
