Ioniq 5 takes crown in Auto Bild competition

Hyundai Motor’s all-electric Ioniq 5 took the crown in a performance evaluation by Germany’s auto magazine Auto Bild.

The Ioniq 5 competed against Audi’s Q4 e-tron and Polestar’s Polestar 2 in evaluations of the cars' bodies, powertrain, convenience, connectivity, eco-friendliness, cost and driving dynamic.

The Ioniq 5 won the highest points in four categories: body, powertrain, convenience and eco-friendliness.

The Ioniq 5 earned 573 points compared to Q4 e-tron's 565 and Polestar 2's 553.

In Auto Bild’s previous competitions, the Ioniq 5 got more points than Volkswagen’s ID.4 and Mercedes-Benz’s EQB.

Auto Bild acknowledged Ioniq 5’s i-Pedal mode, which enables the vehicle to accelerate or come to a stop through the use of the accelerator pedal alone.
