Bang Si-hyuk, the founder of HYBE, will spearhead the debut of a new girl group, Lesserafim, under one of HYBE Labels’ affiliates, Source Music.

Source Music announced on Wednesday that Bang will be the head producer for Lesserafim’s debut project. Bang was the main producer who debuted BTS, Tomorrow X Together and Enhypen.

“Anticipations are growing [for the new girl group Lesserafim] as Bang Si-hyuk, who helped turn K-pop boy band BTS into a world star, is in charge of producing the fist girl group under HYBE Labels,” said Source Music in a statement, and asked that K-pop fans continue to show interest in the new group until the girls make a debut in May.

On Monday, Source Music announced the name of the girl group — Lesserafim — and explained that it is an anagram of “I’m Fearless.” The label said Miyawaki Sakura and Kim Chaewon, former members of now-disbanded girl group IZ*ONE which was formed by the hit Mnet idol audition show “Produce 48” (2018), will be part of the six-member girl group.

Source Music also said that it will let fans of Lesserafim create their own non-fungible tokens (NFTs) using Lesserafim members’ first digital appearances, messages to fans and voice recordings as a sort of “digital souvenir.” This service will be available through HYBE’s new joint platform it is planning to launch with Dunamu, operator of the Upbit cryptocurrency exchange, in the second half of this year.
