The zombie comedy webtoon “My Daughter is a Zombie” by cartoonist Lee Yun-chang has been adapted into an animated series on EBS, Naver Webtoon said Friday.

Its first episode will air April 3.

“My Daughter is a Zombie” was published on Naver Webtoon from August 2018 to June 2020.

A zombie virus that has killed millions of people in Korea has vanished, but protagonist Jeonghwan is hiding the fact that his daughter Su-ah is the last zombie alive.

Although the premise is zombie apocalypse, the tone is comic.

The webtoon is available in multiple languages including English and has been viewed over 5 billion times all over the world, including Japan, Spain, North America, Thailand and Taiwan, Naver Webtoon said.

Two episodes of the animated series will air every Sunday for a total of 26 episodes on EBS and re-runs will be available on Naver Series On.

“I’m thrilled that my cherished work ‘My Daughter is a Zombie’ is returning as an animated series,” cartoonist Lee said. “Thank you to everyone who took part in producing it, and I hope everyone enjoys it.”
