Actor Hoyeon will star in Joe Talbot’s film “The Governesses” along with Lily-Rose Depp and Renate Reinsve.
The film will be distributed by A24, the same company behind the Oscar-winning film “Minari” (2020).
Variety confirmed the news Thursday. Based on Anne Serre’s 1992 novel of the same title, the story follows the erotic adventure of three rebellious governesses — one of whom will be portrayed Hoyeon — and the boys under their supervision.
The film will be shot in Spain.
“News of the project comes amid a breakthrough year for Hoyeon,” Variety wrote about her. “After breaking big in Netflix’s ‘Squid Game,’ which marked her acting debut, Hoyeon has nabbed a role in Alfonso Curaron’s upcoming Apple TV Plus thriller series ‘Disclaimer,’ opposite Cate Blanchett, Kevin Kline, Sacha Baron Cohen and Kodi Smit-McPhee.”
The actor recently appeared in The Weeknd's music video “Out of Time," released on YouTube Tuesday.
