Koo Kyo-hwan to star in webtoon-based film 'Reawakened Man'

Actor Koo Kyo-hwan is set to star in the webtoon-based film “Reawakened Man” (working title), its distributor Lotte Entertainment said Monday.

“'Reawakened Man,' starring Koo Kyo-hwan, is now getting ready for production,” Lotte said.

The webtoon is an action blockbuster that centers around Seok Hwan, a job seeker and good Samaritan. When he gets involved in saving his neighbor Yerin from a group of mobsters, Hwan gets murdered but wakes up three days later only to find that he has the power to resurrect.

“Reawakened Man” was published on Naver Webtoon from 2016 to 2019 and was written by Chae Yong-taek and illustrated by Kim Jae-han.

The webtoon is also available in English.

Koo will play Hwan. The actor has been in films “Peninsula” (2020) and “Escape from Mogadishu” (2021) and in Netflix original series “D.P.” (2021).

Lotte Entertainment said that the rest of the cast will be announced at a later date and that filming will start in 2023.
