Rookie girl group aespa will perform on the main stage of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on Saturday, according to its agency SM Entertainment on Tuesday.
"It is the first K-pop girl group to be officially invited to perform on the main stage of the festival," said SM.
Of the seven stages at Coachella, the main stage is located outdoors and draws the largest crowds with the festival's headlining acts.
aespa will perform its hit songs "Black Mamba" (2020), "Next Level" (2021) and "Savage" (2021) as well as new songs that have not yet been released.
Some 120 artists have been slated to participate in this year's Coachella including Harry Styles, Billie Eilish, Dojo Cat, Conan Gray and Pink Sweat$.
Girl group 2NE1 and singer-songwriter Bibi also took part in the event last week.
This year's Coachella is being held at the Empire Polo Club in California from April 15 to 24.
Performances are live streamed on the festival's official YouTube channel.
aespa debuted in November 2020 with the single "Black Mamba." The group quickly rose to stardom with its subsequent songs "Next Level" (2021) and "Savage" (2021). Its first EP "Savage" landed at No. 20 on Billboard 200 chart last year, achieving a record-high ranking for a K-pop girl group on the chart.
aespa is comprised of four members: Karina, Winter, Giselle and Ningning.
