BTS’s 'Dynamite' certified double platinum by RIAJ

BTS’s hit English single “Dynamite” (2020) was certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) for exceeding 500,000 in accumulated downloads, its agency Big Hit Music said Thursday.
 
The association certifies songs with over 100,000 downloads as gold, 250,000 downloads as platinum, 500,000 downloads as double platinum and 1 million downloads as million.
 
“Dynamite” was also certified diamond in January for exceeding 500 million streams, a record reached in 529 days after its release in August 2020. According to the RIAJ, the song was the fastest song to be certified diamond in the category of streaming.
 
In streaming, the association certifies songs with over 30 million streams as silver, 50 million as gold, 100 million as platinum and 500 million as diamond.
 
The band's other hit singles such as “Butter” (2021) and “Permission to Dance” (2021) achieved platinum and gold status, respectively. Prior singles such as “Boy With Luv” (2019) achieved the platinum status, while “Idol” (2018), Japanese singles “Film Out” (2021) and “Lights” (2021) all achieved gold status.
