Billboard released an exclusive interview with girl group aespa on their upcoming Coachella debut this Saturday under the headline “aespa Share Details on Coachella Debut & ‘New Music That Will Wow the World’.”
“Truthfully, we don’t have much experience performing live in front of an audience since we debuted during the pandemic, so the thought of performing in front of a large audience at Coachella, which is the dream stage for many artists, made me feel very nervous,” Karina said at the interview when asked about the preparation of the performance.
Winter said that they were “practicing hard to put on an amazing performance for the audience including our fans,” and she “can’t wait to have a great time at the festival.”
To the question of their future activities in the United States, Giselle answered, "We will be back in the U.S. to promote our next album, and, hopefully, when the situation is safe, we can meet more of our global MYs [the name of aespa’s fanbase]."
“This year, we plan to do more global promotions through various activities and contents,” Ningning added. "We are also doing our best to bring fresh new music to our fans. We hope to meet more fans in person this year so please stay tuned."
According to SM Entertainment, aespa is the first K-pop girl group to perform on the main stage of the festival.
Of the seven stages at Coachella, the main stage is located outdoors and draws the largest crowds with the festival's headlining acts.
aespa will perform its hit songs "Black Mamba" (2020), "Next Level" (2021) and "Savage" (2021) as well as new songs that have not yet been released.
Some 120 artists have been slated to participate in this year's Coachella including Harry Styles, Billie Eilish, Dojo Cat, Conan Gray and Pink Sweat$.
