In a surprising development, the People Power Party (PPP) struck a deal with the ruling Democratic Party (DP) to strip the prosecution of its authority to investigate two crimes involving public office holders and elections in return for the DP’s help with approving President Yoon Suk-yeol’s nomination of Han Duck-soo as prime minister. But the DP suddenly canceled Han’s confirmation hearings scheduled for Monday and Tuesday.
