GS25 has won the race to sell one of Jay Park's sojus — but not the super-fancy one made the old fashioned way.

The convenience store chain will start selling Won Soju Spirit at its branches in July. The product is not out yet. It will also be sold online directly from the manufacturer in July.

Jay Park's most famous product, Won Soju, will continue to be sold only online. It is aged in onggi, or traditional Korean earthenware.

Won Soju Spirit doesn't take long to produce and can be easily supplied in large quantities for sales at GS25 branches. The price of Won Soju Spirit hasn't been announced, but the manufacturer, Won Spirits, said it will be cheaper than Won Soju's price of 14,900 won ($12) for a 375 mililiter (12.7 fluid ounce) bottle.

Won Spirits said it chose GS25 because of its many branches and its Wine25+ service, which allows customers to order alcoholic beverages on the convenience store's application, The Pop, and pick them up at a branch.
“Many retailers have been showing great interest in selling Won Soju Spirit in their stores, and we are thrilled to offer it at GS25 branches,” said Oh Jin-seok, head of GS Retail’s platform business unit.

GS25 plans to continue to work with Won Spirits and hold promotional events for customers, some partnering with AOMG, a hip-hop label founded by Won Spirits CEO Jay Park. Park stepped down as CEO last year, but still remains an advisor to the label.
