Marvel's 'Doctor Strange' tops films released in Korea since 2020
Marvel film “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” has the best opening score among films released in Korea since the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to the Korean Film Council, “Doctor Strange,” released in local theaters Wednesday, sold 1.32 million tickets as of 9:30 a.m. Thursday, the highest ticket sales from local box office for a film on its release day since 2020. The last Marvel film “Spider-Man: No Way Home” (2021) recorded 1.02 million ticket sales on its second day of release.
Directed by Sam Raimi, best known for creating the Spider-Man trilogy (2002-07) and horror film franchise “Evil Dead,” Raimi mixes horror elements into the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Doctor Strange and his newfound companion America Chavez travel through the multiverse to stop mystical, powerful opponents triggered by the events Strange caused in “Spider-Man: No Way Home.”
