JTBC teams up with Next Entertainment World to accelerate global expansion

JTBC will accelerate its global expansion through a partnership with production company Next Entertainment World (NEW), the company said Thursday.

Starting this month, JTBC will deliver its popular programs to 25 Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television (FAST) services around the world with the help of a digital platform subsidiary of NEW, NEW ID.

FAST services are streaming services that are provided for free and show short adverts to viewers, differing from subscription-based platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.

NEW ID will provide its post-production and marketing expertise to bring JTBC’s programs, such as such as “Men on a Mission” and “Chef & My Fridge,” to the global audience.

“We were met with limits in localizing our content in the global market such as with music copyrights and other issues, but NEW ID’s post-production technology has offered us new opportunities,” said Bang Ji-hyun, head of the digital service unit at JTBC.
