Singer, actor and television personality Lee Seung-gi has finally addressed his relationship with actor Lee Da-in, the daughter of veteran actor Kyun Mi-ri.

“Over the past year, we [Lee and his fans] were both quite hurt and didn’t have enough communication,” the singer wrote in a post on his official website on Sunday. “After a long time of consideration, I’m breaking my silence.”

The two went public with their relationship in May 2021, which sparked backlash from Lee Seung-gi’s fans because Lee Da-in’s stepfather and Kyun’s second husband Lee Hong-hun was indicted for manipulating stock prices in 2016.

“I’ve been silent despite the commotion because I thought I wouldn’t be able to clearly convey my thoughts because my words may get emotional,” he continued. “In that case, there would only be more misunderstanding and hurt. Secondly, I worried what we talk about might get leaked to other outlets and become distorted into rumors. That would hurt more people and be used as another topic of gossip by some people. Please understand why I’ve been silent, although some of you have been asking me to clarify my stance.”

The singer also stated that his relationship with Lee Da-in has not changed and the two are still romantically involved. Rumors circulated in August last year that the couple had broken up.

“I didn’t say anything about that because there has been no changes since our relationship went public,” he wrote. “I’m sorry if I let you down in any way. I want to console all of you.”
