Kim Gun-mo, Jang Ji-youn reportedly planning to divorce

Singer Kim Gun-mo and pianist Jang Ji-youn, who have been married since 2019, are getting a divorce, local news outlet TVDaily reported Friday.

The pair were “unable to resolve personal problems” and are “in the process of sorting out the specific details for the divorce,” the report said.

Kim and Jang were reported to have legally registered their marriage in November 2019 after meeting in May that year through an acquaintance. They appeared together on an episode of SBS reality talk show “My Little Old Boy” (2016-) that year, which showed Kim proposing to Jang.

Just one month after announcing their marriage, Kim was accused of raping a hostess at a bar in 2016 by lawyer Kang Yong-seok, via the YouTube channel “Hover Lab.” Kang submitted official complaint to police, but the case was dropped in November last year.

Kim has maintained his innocence, stating that he “does not remember it at all” through his agency.

Kim, who made his debut in 1992 as a singer, is best known for songs like “Wrongful Encounter” (1995) and “Jjangga” (2001).

Jang, who studied at Berklee College of Music, comes from a celebrity family. Her father Jang Wook-jo is a composer-turned-pastor, while her brother Jang Hee-woong is an actor who’s appeared in dramas like “I Can Hear Your Voice” (2013).
