Culture Ministry announces Gangneung will host the next World Choir Games

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced Tuesday that the country will host the World Choir Games in Gangneung, Gangwon, next year.
 
The World Choir Games is the largest global festival and competition of its kind, established in 2000. Amateur choir groups from all over the world get together to “sing together to bring nations together.” The event is organized by Interkultur Foundation and the last host of the Games was Antwerp and Ghent in Belgium from Oct. 30 to Nov. 7 in 2021.
 
The Games will be held at various venues in Gangneung from July 3 to 13.
 
According to the Culture Ministry, about 25,000 people fron around the world will participate in the Games. To mark the occasion and to attract public interest, the ministry said it will hold a ceremonial event on July 4 in Gangneung’s Lakai Sandpine Resort. The Gangneung City Choir will stage a congratulatory performance on the day.
