Rainy season intermission
Beach-goers cool themselves at Haeundae Beach in Busan Sunday as a heat wave provides an intermission to the rainy season. The Korea Meteorological Administration issued its first heat wave alert Saturday, 18 days earlier than last year. As Typhoon Aere approaches Jeju Island, strong winds and torrential rainfall are expected on Monday and Tuesday. The weather agency forecast that Typhoon Aere will approach 220 kilometers south of Seogwipo, Jeju Island, on Monday afternoon and then move toward Japan on Tuesday morning. [SONG BONG-GEUN]
