Hana Bank sponsoring the Seoul E-Prix 2022

Hana Bank is sponsoring the Seoul E-Prix 2022 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, a world-class electric vehicle racing competition, the bank announced Wednesday.

Hosted by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile, the Formula E took place in Beijing in 2014, followed by New York, London and Paris.

This year's event will take place for two days at Jamsil Stadium, southern Seoul, starting on Aug. 13.

Hana Bank said that it hopes the event will raise people’s interest in electric vehicles and spread the importance of sustainable development and environmental protection in Korea.

The bank said sponsoring the event is one of its environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives and part of its efforts to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

It said it plans to hold various promotions, like giving out entrance tickets and discount coupons to users of its HANA 1Q mobile app, starting mid-July. People who purchase the ticket using Hana Card will be able to receive a 5 percent discount, it added.

A spokesperson for the bank vowed to strengthen the sponsoring of events related to electric vehicles, and to “actively practice the authentic ESG management” in the future.
