Suspect arrested on rape charges after death of 20-year-old student

Police investigating the death of a 20-year-old female college student who was found bleeding on Inha University campus arrested a male suspect on charges of rape Friday.

According to Incheon Michuhol Police Precinct on Friday, a man in his 20s, who was with the student hours before her death, was arrested Friday after being investigated as a strong suspect in the case. The suspect is reported to be a fellow college student who was drinking alcohol with the student before her death.

The police identified the suspect after reviewing CCTV footage of the student’s movements on the day of her death.

The deceased student was initially found by a passerby at 3:49 a.m. Friday on Inha University campus in Michuhol District, Incheon, Gyeonggi. She had no clothes on and was bleeding from the head, with no heartbeat. The student was taken to the hospital by paramedics, but later pronounced dead.

The police announced that they have asked the National Forensic Service to perform an autopsy on the victim, while the police continue investigations into the exact circumstances surrounding the case.
