The cabinet approved a regulation to form a new police oversight bureau within the Ministry of the Interior and Safety at a cabinet meeting presided by Prime Minister Han Duck-soo on Tuesday.

“The establishment of a new police oversight bureau is to provide administrative support to the National Police Agency, an agency that is becoming more important day by day,” said Han Duck-soo during a cabinet meeting at the Central Government Complex in Jongno District, central Seoul, on the same day.

The new regulation will be implemented from Aug. 2.
