The presidential office on Wednesday said that it welcomes U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s upcoming visit to Korea and expressed hopes for yielding constructive results through talks between Pelosi and the speaker of the National Assembly.

“Our government is committed to maintaining close communication with regional parties on various issues under the understanding that peace and stability in the region are necessary through dialogue and cooperation,” an official from the presidential office said during a press briefing Wednesday. “We hope that Speaker Pelosi’s tour of Asia goes smoothly as planned, and welcome her visit to Korea.”

Pelosi is expected to arrive in Korea on Wednesday night.
