The daughter of the man nicknamed “Gangnam Superman,” who was filmed clearing out garbage blocking drains with his bare hands near Gangnam Station in southern Seoul in the midst of record heavy rains Monday evening, spoke up online Thursday about her dad's good deeds.

On Thursday, the daughter of the man shared the video of her father on social media and said that she saw the video through a friend’s Instagram account.

The video of the man, earning him the nickname “Gangnam Superman,” went viral Monday. In the video, the man is seen using his bare hands to dig out garbage that was blocking a drain on the roadside near Gangnam Station. The person who first shared the video online added that because of the man’s actions, the level of flooding on nearby sidewalks instantly improved.

“My dad went to work wearing new clothes that day,” said the daughter in the online post. “I had messaged him because I was worried, and he had said that he was stuck in Gangnam. I later found out what he had been doing alone that night.”

Netizens poured praise on the man after the video of him went viral. “He’s a hero,” read one comment, while another said “That kind of kindness should be rewarded publicly.”
