Blackpink is likely to set another record in K-pop history with its upcoming second album “Born Pink.”

According to its agency YG Entertainment Thursday, the presales for the album surpassed 1.5 million just a week after the reservations opened up. Considering there is still nearly a month left before the album’s official release on Sept. 16, experts predict the album's sales could easily exceed 2 million, and even 3 million, setting another record among K-pop girl groups.

“Born Pink” marks the girl group’s return to the music scene after a year and 10 months. Its first full-length album “The Album” was released in October 2020 and became the first-ever million-seller among K-pop girl groups.

On Thursday, YG also released “Pink Venom D-1” poster, signaling the girl group’s return to the music scene with its pre-release single “Pink Venom,” which is slated to drop at 1 p.m. Friday. Blackpink will livestream the countdown of the release an hour before its release via its official YouTube channel.

The girl group is expected to actively promote the song and its upcoming album through a variety of scheduled events, such as performing at the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) on Aug. 28.

The girl group will embark on its “Born Pink” world tour to promote the new album from Oct. 15. A total of 36 locations for the tour have been announced so far.

The "Born Pink" tour will kick off in Seoul and continue to 25 more cities including Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, London, Barcelona, Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, Bangkok, Abu Dhabi, Jakarta, Manila, Melbourne and Sydney.
