Girl group Blackpink topped Spotify's Global Top 50 chart with its new song "Pink Venom," according to YG Entertainment on Sunday.

Blackpink is the first female K-pop act to achieve this feat.

"Pink Venom" was released on Aug. 19, prior to the group's full-length album "Born Pink" which is set for release on Sept. 16. It is a hip-hop track that incorporates sounds of a geomungo (a traditional Korean six-stringed zither).

In 2020, the girl group peaked at second place on the Spotify's chart with the song "How You Like That" (2020).

Within hours of the song's release on Friday, "Pink Venom" topped the iTunes Top Song charts of 73 countries.

Its music video, which was unveiled on YouTube the same day, surpassed 1 million views within 29 hours of release.

The group is set to perform "Pink Venom" during the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) on Aug. 28.

The girl group will also embark on its “Born Pink” world tour to promote the new album from Oct. 15 through 2023. A total of 36 locations such as Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, London, Barcelona and Paris have been announced so far.

“Born Pink” marks the girl group’s return to the music scene after a year and 10 months. Its first full-length album “The Album” was released in October 2020 and became the first-ever million-seller among K-pop girl groups.

Blackpink debuted in August 2016 with the EP "Square One" and quickly became one of the county's top K-pop acts, releasing hit dance numbers every year including “Boombayah” (2016), “Playing with Fire” (2016), “As If It's Your Last” (2017), “Forever Young” (2018), “Kill This Love” (2019), “How You Like That" (2020) and “Lovesick Girls” (2020).
