KT to market Databricks solutions and services in Korea

KT said on Wednesday that it has signed a consulting and service integration agreement to market offerings from San Francisco's Databricks to clients in Korea.

Founded in 2013, San Francisco-based Databricks sells data storage and analysis services.

The company established itself in Korea in April, and Ali Ghodsi, Databricks CEO and co-founder, said in a press conference that it aims to double the headcount in its local office by next April.

The telecommunications company will market Databricks services and products to its corporate clients. The two companies have also agreed to work together in a number of different areas, including data engineering, machine learning and business intelligence, according to KT.

"Databricks, which has the world-leading infrastructure solutions, and KT, which holds the leading big data and AI capabilities in Korea, teamed up with each other," said Choi Jun-ki, head of KT¡¯s AI and big data business. "Through the agreement, we will help customers across various industry sectors in their effort toward digital innovation."
