Malaysia and Singapore will get their first BHC Chicken branches soon, with the company planning more overseas branches.

In November, BHC Chicken will open a branch in a shopping mall in Mont Kiara, a section of Kuala Lumpur, that will be operated by a local logistics company under a master franchise agreement.

Under a master franchise agreement, a brand operator provides a franchisee know-how, management systems and control rights to run the brand in a specified territory in return for royalties.

Another branch will open in Singapore next April. BHC said it signed a master franchise agreement with a local retailer there.

Until now, BHC Chicken has only had two overseas branches in Hong Kong, unlike its rivals. Kyochon Chicken has 67 branches abroad and BB.Q Chicken over 450.

BHC Chicken hopes to catch up by opening branches in Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

“Our overseas business will become more visible starting in the second half of this year, and we plan to develop into a global company that can bring various types of Korean food to countries abroad,” said a spokesperson for BHC.

The company also announced that its Changgo43, a Korean barbecue restaurant that sells hanwoo (Korean beef), will open its first overseas branch soon, although a date and location weren’t announced.
