Actor Lee Sun-bin won a civil suit filed by her former agency Wellmade Star Ent, according to local news reports Friday.

Lee won an appeal ruled on by the Civil Affairs Department 17-2 of the Seoul High Court. She also won the original trial in January.

In June 2020, Wellmade Star Ent sued Lee saying “Lee unilaterally terminated her contract and continued her activities” and demanded 500 million won ($354,500) in damages. Lee signed up with the agency in 2016 and allegedly ended her contract on Sept. 21, 2018.

Lee said she had no choice but to end the contract because “the payment and accounting settlement were unclear, [she was] cast [in programs] without prior notice and asked for rectification but the agency instead demoted [her] manager and disturbed her schedule.”

The high court ruled in favor of Lee saying the agency did not give Lee proper payment information on jobs such as modeling. It said the agency only gave her approximate amounts for payments, disregarding details related to taxes.

“The exclusive contract was legally terminated as there was a violation of obligation in which the agency did not properly provide evidence of settlement,” the ruling stated.

The court said it was acceptable that Lee ended her contract 14 days after she requested the documents.
