SK Broadband has been leading the Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) market in the first half of 2022, and one of the most notable services is directed at children.

“B tv ZEM KIDS” offers 8 varieties of content for infants and children based on their ages, comprehensive levels, and characteristics. From recreation to education, this child-friendly service has shown positive outcomes and is a major example of SK Broadband’s curation service.

A homeschooling service called “Today’s Learning” was released in November, 2021. This is the first IPTV in Korea that recommends free educational content on a daily basis, taking into account the acute and independent needs of children aged one to 13. Today’s Learning has been designed to be an applicable model for comprising a “positive flow” of education. Children can easily identify study goals and parents can assess their child’s progress by simply accessing the system, maintaining an effective and efficient cycle in education management. The number of accumulated users was over 3 million in May, and quarterly views increased by 400 percent.

Alongside the advanced educational content, B tv ZEM KIDS also offers diversified recreational services for children. The “B tv ZEM Pen” and “B tv ZEM Book” are matching devices designed exclusively to foster the engagement of children. Launched in August, The ZEM Pen is equipped with a microphone that recognizes the pronunciation of the speaker, enabling a conversation with the TV. A matching booklet links the user’s profile information saved on B tv ZEM KIDS, and suggests an optimal curriculum. Users can access up to 12 thousand kinds of content with the ZEM Pen and the ZEM Book, and SK Broadband has plans to further expand interactive services using these items. B tv ZEM KIDS also features coding education for ages three to elementary school-aged students.

As well as managing content, SK Broadband has introduced a home entertainment service called “Play Z.” The Multi-purpose platform provides OTT portals, a dominant streaming channel, “Channel Z,” 500 VODs free of charge, karaoke services and even games. This dimensional service is accessible anywhere with a wifi connection, and thus is a perfect option for families and individuals who prioritize convenience and portability.

SK Broadband has been making bold movements in advertising as well. “Addressable TV commercials” are customized advertisements based on the watched data on the user’s set top box. Users are exposed to different kinds of ads, regardless of the time and channel, based on their assumed preferences. The company wishes to play a leading role in future B tv industries by establishing addressable TV commercials as major tactics.
