'Just use the points to get a discount'

Only three months remain before the membership points offered by Korean mobile carriers expire, but a recent survey shows that a considerable number of subscribers have been unable to fully enjoy the benefits.
SK Telecom, KT and LG U+ all provide membership benefits based on criteria including which rate plans their users subscribe. Those membership points generally expire at the end of the year.
According to a survey conducted by the Korea Consumer Agency, only 40.7 percent of membership points given to consumers have been used.
Customers say that the range of brands that allow customers to use the points is limited, as is the amount of points they can use when making payments.
The three major mobile carriers argue that membership services are “a sort of free benefit and a means of marketing.”
“Where you can use the points is too limited.”
“Using the points itself is quite difficult for senior citizens.”
“You can use all the points if you buy additional data plans.”
“Just use the points to get a discount when you buy tickets for movies or performances.”
“I hope I can pay subscription fees using those points.”
“Full payment with membership points should be allowed when people making payments.”
