Actor Yoon Kye-sang to star in new drama produced by AStory

Actor Yoon Kye-sang will star in a new television drama produced by AStory, the production company behind the hit legal drama “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” (2022), the company announced Thursday.

Yoon will play the lead in a black comedy drama surrounding a young girl genius and a clumsy kidnapper who tries to abduct her. Titled “The Day of the Abduction” (translated), the drama is based on a 2019 Korean thriller novel of the same name by author Chung Hae-yeon.

The main character in the novel, the unlikely kidnapper, tries to abduct the young girl genius in order to use the ransom money for his daughter’s hospital bills. He befriends the girl in the process and this results in a comedic storyline.

Who will play the young girl genius who gets kidnapped by Yoon’s character is yet to be announced.

Yoon debuted as part of boy band g.o.d in 1999 and turned to acting in 2004. His most notable works include films “The Outlaws” (2017) and “Malmoe: The Secret Mission” (2019), and the tvN series “The Good Wife” (2016).
