Police are strengthening safety precautions around Itaewon, central Seoul, ahead of the first Halloween Day since social distancing measures were lifted in Korea, according to the Yongsan Police Precinct on Thursday.

Over 200 police officers will be dispatched to the area from Oct. 29 to 31 to prevent crimes such as illegal filming and abuse.

More police officers working nearby the Itaewon area will be working on night shifts and strengthen the crackdown on crimes associated with drugs.

Around 100,000 people gather in and around Itaewon each day during the Halloween weekend, according to the Yongsan Police Precinct.
